Proof66 Notes

Comandon VS ("very special") cognac is their entry level and youngest expression, which they say is a blend of over 40 different cognacs. The average age of cognac is 6 years in Limousin oak where all the cognac is between 4 and 8 years. They call the VS a "light and delicate" spirit.

Maison Comandon was founded in 1821 by the then 20yr old Pierre Comandon in Jarnac on the Charente River. (Both Pierre and, later, his son Louis were involved in Jarnac politics.) Family owned and independent to this day they are proud of the fact that all parts of their cognac production are on site and in their control. It is this fact that they feel gives their cognac a unique personality.
