Leopold Gourmel Cognac Age du Fruit
This is a Tier 1 score in the Brandy category. It means the spirit has won the highest recommendation at least once and probably many times.
Cognac Leopold Gourmel was founded in 1972 by Pierre Voisin and Olivier Blanc named for Voisn's grandfather Leopold Gourmel. It was later acquired in full by Olivier Blanc in 1993. The cognacs are made from grapes from the Fin Bois region, which they claim lead to richer and stronger flavors. The grapes are grown free of chemicals and have no additives. They are produced in vintage years so there will be some variation from bottle to bottle. The aging is done in un-charred oak and non-chill filtered.
Leopold Gourmel Age du Fruit is aged for an average of 13 years and distilled from white wine. With the un-charred oak they feel creates a non-aggressive and "not artificially woody" cognac.
