Liquor Review Notes:
El Senorio mezcals are traditional agave-based spirits produced in Oaxaca at the new recently constructed distillery Casa AGP. (Mezcal is distinct from tequila in that it is produced outside of Jalisco and may use many different varieties of agave whereas tequila must use Blue Weber Agave.)
El Senorio joven is the un-aged or blanco expression bottled immediately after the distillation. It is considered the purest and most traditional form of mezcal.
Yes, it has the worm ("gusano") in the bottle.
In their 2011 review, the Beverage Testing Institute noted that El Senorio Joven was "intensely smoky... yet elegant." In 2012, they called it "wild and wooly" also claiming to find aromas of "ironed linen" among others.
El Senorio Joven was awarded the Gold Medal at the 2010 SIP Awards.
