Exotics - Absinthe
Kübler Swiss Absinthe Superieure
This is a Tier 1 score in the Exotics category. It means the spirit has won the highest recommendation at least once and probably many times.
Kubler Absinthe is said to be made in "historical cradle of absinthe," made from a traditional recipe dating to 1863 and J. Fritz Kubler in Motiers, Switzerland. The Blackmint Distillery was opened in 1875 and is the source of Kubler to this day. They use botanicals grown only in the Val-de-Travers region, whose micro-climate they say is particularly suited to those necessary herbs. Despite the green tinted bottle, it presents clear, in the Swiss "blue" style but louches with ice water and characterizes traditional absinthe.
Kubler Absinthe is a label owned and managed by Distillerie Willisauer in Switzerland but they source the absinthe from the Blackmint Distillery, which we have shown here as the source. The brand also is 25% owned by Altamar Brands.
The 2012 Beverage Testing Institute solemnly declared the Kubler "a very well made absinthe."
