Proof66 Notes

One hardly ever sees ths non-blue-colored version of the Bombay gin. It doesn't seem to enjoy the popularity of its "sibling" for whatever reason. However Wine Enthusiasts notes that, "Better than its sibling" on their tasting.

Bombay Original Gin rocks. The gin and tonic is crisp with Bombay original gin dominating the Fever-tree Tonic. The British City of London bar recipe for Bombay original gin martini is 13 teaspoons gin ( 1/4 cup) / 1 teaspoon Martini and Rossi vermouth which is an outstanding martini.

I had been wanting to try this one, and finally pulled the trigger when I needed a bottle of gin for an infusion project I was trying. This is not a bad gin. Juniper heavy (like I prefer), but well balanced by the other botanicals. Made decent dry and dirty Martinis, as well as a good G&T. It does seem to have an "odd" finish. I wasn't sure so I fixed identical G&T's using this and Beefeater. It was definitely not my imagination. This is not a bad gin, but what kills it for me is that for the same price, I can choose from Beefeater, Broker's, Citadelle, etc. Probably not a repeat buy for me (unless I find it on sale), but it's good enough that I would encourage you to try it for yourself. It is almost a 4 star...

3.7 stars classic flavors, juniper, a bit of orange, more earthy, less perfumery than sapphire.

Solid classic gin. Well balanced but not overpowering. Juniper forward but not as much as Tanqueray.
