Gin - Traditional Dry
Boodles British London Dry Gin
This is a Tier 1 score in the Gin category. It means the spirit has won the highest recommendation at least once and probably many times.
Boodles Gin is bottled and exported from England. According to a 1007 article in Slashfood, it is produced by Chivas Brothers by contract for Pernod-Ricard, a French "big liquor" company. The same article claims the name comes from Edward Boodle, who ran an English gentleman's club in 1762. The gin itself is made from a base of English wheat and a series of botanicals that do not include citrus (a striking decision considering all the modern, citrus-forward gins on the current market). Their website simply announces that they expect a well-made drink to include a slice of lime.
