Proof66 Notes

Broker's Gin—renowned on shelves everywhere for its little black top-hat on top of the bottle&mdsh;was first released in 1998 but is based upon a 200 year old recipe It's made from an English wheat base and flavored in the classic London dry style. It is blended down from spring-water from the site of the distillery itself. In a brief interview with Tasting Panel Magazine (March, 2013), Andy Dawson said, "We have no oddball ingredients... no one is stumped bout Broker's and asks, 'What do they put in this gin?' The gin is what it's meant to be."

Broker's Distillery is in Birmingham, England on the site of an old brewery. It is owned and managed by Andy and Martin Dawson. It is imported by Sidney Frank

Juniper and citrus ideally balanced. This is a phenomenal gin! I enjoy gins of all stripes, but do tend to prefer the traditional flavor profile if I am forced to choose. A great value to boot.

My go to gin. Classic juniper heavy flavor profile. Great for a no nonsense dry martini. The Best Gin & Tonic I've ever made was equal parts Brokers and Seagrams tonic water with a squeeze of lemon. Brokers does not get lost in a G&T. This is my favorite traditional style gin. Now if I could just figure out what to do with all the plastic bowler hats.

Bottle: Nice simple design, with a small hat that my cat found amusing, could of improved design if the hat was an actual cork. Nose: Juniper and strong alcohol presence Flavor: Smooth and strong juniper, the way a value gin should taste, imo. Overall: A great buy at $15 at my local store, surprised by the quality, i enjoyed it much better than New Amsterdam. Still love Hendricks and i enjoy Bombay Sapphire for cocktails.

Classic old style gin with no apologies. A retro- or retrograde type of gin of the type before the sissified 'lighter' gins started to be blended to lure the fear of flavor crowd away from their vodka "martini" abominations. Made from simple, traditional ingredients -no gimmicks, secrets herbs or spices- just good gin. One of sadly few gins made the old fashioned way in a copper pot still, a labor intensive method that has fallen from favor among most distillers.

tasted this at Proof66's Bethesda-Fest 2009. Enjoyable, medium-balanced gin. not sure it's enough to keep me coming back for more, though....too many other gins in this price range to try!
