Proof66 Notes

Tanqueray was first made by Charles Tanqueray in London beginning in 1830. Eventually, WWII destroyed most of the distillery and its remnant were relocated to Scotland, where it is made today. Tanqueray was one of the first distilleries to use double-distillation methods (later, triple-distillation and today quadruple-distilled) as well as being one of the very first "premium" gins on the market.

Received for Father's Day from my brother.  A great summer spirit; enjoyable on the rocks.  I rather strongly prefer Bombay's gins to classic Tanqueray but the fruitiness of this spirit really gave it it's own niche.

I'm not a huge fan of regular Tanqueray -- or of any London Dry gin, to be honest -- but the lime added to this does something different that makes it very enjoyable.

Try it in a G&T with a sweeter tonic like White Rock and you've got something. Not really a Martini gin though so I'll only be using it in the summer. The fruit flavor almost over powers the juniper; so keep this one around for a change of pace.

I don't particularly care for the regular Tanqueray, but the Rangpur is fantastic. The hint of lime is definitely there, but it's not overpowering. I had my doubts, but I even enjoyed this in a dry martini.
