Rating Description

93rd Percentile
This score falls in the 93rd percentile of all spirits in the Liqueur category and is an example of the very best in its class.

Notes

Baileys claims a group of 1,500 farms raising over 40,000 cows all dedicated to the production of the cream. They claim they are the "happiest cows around" because they're free range raised on grass. It's blended with Irish whiskey and a combination of cocoa and vanilla to create the Irish cream.

The official trademark omits the notional possessive apostrophe in "Baileys," which is an easy mistake to make.

More like 3.5 stars. It's good, and goes great with Crown Royal Maple. But it's greatly overpriced for the alcohol content.

Nothing really oustanding in my opinion, too little whisky, too much cream. If Sheridan's were available in North America, this overhyped concoction would take a severe beating in sales.

Reminds me of car bombs, I like it but haven't tried the other cheaper alternatives referenced by other reviewers... however I'll be sure to, cheers!

(2 out of 5). Not awful, but I just don't see the appeal. Maybe whiskey/cream combinations like Coole Swan and Buffalo Trace cream have spoiled me, but this just tastes rough and completely unbalanced. Not to mention, the other easy to find brands of Irish Cream (like Saint Brendan's) are cheaper and as good, if not better. Spend the money and get Coole Swan if you can find it, Bailey's just isn't balanced, and it's expensive for what it is. $23 or so in my area.

Well this is a classic... Its hard not to have a soft spot for something this smooth. Not for the serious drinker and somewhat heavy. Nonetheless it is quite universal in taste and does wonders with coffee!!

I really like this liqueur in coffee, it's just that simple.  The marketing and branding of this likely plays a role in my 4-star rating as I've had St Brendans and enjoyed it just as much.  However, if I were going to bring a bottle of Irish cream to a holiday party, I'd be bringing a bottle of Baileys every time.

This is what most people think of when they think of Irish Cream, and it was the first one I had as well, but since then I've found others that are just as good, if not better and usually for half the price. Give Carolan's, St. Brendan's or McCormick's a try and you won't be disappointed.

As others have mentioned there are cheaper options, though I am not qualified to say they are better.  Duggan's was not mentioned.  Look for it at a drug store (Rite Aid).  Found it for 1/3 the price of Bailey's, and I see/taste/feel no difference.

I really don't understand the fuss. I find Bailey's out of balance (too much whisky, too little cream) and boring. Carolan's is fine -- maybe better -- at half the price.

The Irish Cream most people first experience, this one has fallen way down my list over the last few years, having tried many other tastier, more refined, cheaper options. Baileys is still a perfectly fine mixer, but I will sip this no more. Not only does it burn more than just about any of its competitors, its also $10 more expensive per bottle. Note to anyone reading this: Buy Carolans, OMaras, Fennellys, or other similar Irish Creams. Theyre better and much less expensive. How Baileys can be priced where it is, is beyond me, but thats what the first megabrand to this market segment gets I suppose. Buy if you must but pass it up if you have other options.

Baileys isn't hideous, but almost. Tastes like they've cheapened up the process over the years. Yuck.

It's a classic. Mixes well with coffee or hot chocolate. Perfect to drink straight as well.

I'm not inclined to like thick, sweet cream liqueurs anyway... but this one has an aroma that extends into the initial flavor that I just can't stand.
