Proof66 Notes

BVSco Krupnikas liqueur is based upon a blend of honey and spicy peppers that is popular in eastern Europe and the western part of what used to be the Soviet Union and historians would think of as the Russian empire. It is made in North Carolina using infusions of whole spices and North Carolina honey. The "BVS" on the label stands for "Brothers Vigalys Spirits." The suggest drinking neat or mixing in equal parts coffee liqueur and cream.

I highly recommend BV Krupnikas. I live in North Carolina and it is an honor to the state that the Brothers V have produced such an outstanding honey liquor. This is my go to drink in the winter or when I am feeling a cold is coming over me. Delicious and spicy and warms the heart and body. A very relaxing drink that is great by itself, coffee or tea. Buy it and keep it in the kitchen.

I purchased this since it's made in my home state, not knowing what to expect. Definitely a small batch spirit. Each bottle is hand numbered and initialed by the bottler. Attractive packaging. To me this is a winter time liqueur. Nose is heavy with mulling spices. Straight, the honey and spices were a bit cloying or overpowering for me. This really shines as a mixer. Not knowing what to do with it, I visited their website and tried several of their recipes. The highlights were the "Boxcar" (Krupnikas, Bourbon, Orange Bitters and ginger ale) and Krupnikas and Ginger Ale. Also excellent in a cup of black coffee. The company and the product have a great back story, and I encourage you to check out their website for details on this unique spirit http://brothersvilgalys.com/
