Proof66 Notes

Disaronno is one of the most well-known Italian liqueurs, made from a centuries-old recipe of unnamed fruits and herbs designed for a very sweet taste. They say the recipe stems from an innkeeper's liqueur made in 1525 that was discovered by the Reina family, who began product in DiSaronno Originale in the 17th century from Saronnon, Italy. They further claim the recipe is a closely guarded secret, saying only that it contains "select herbs and fruits" but is widely regarded as an almond-flavored spirit in the amaretto tradition.

It's pure sugar and coasts on brand recognition. Vanilla apricot syrup for people that drink amaretto sours when they're not drinking Captain and Coke or Piña Coladas. Luxardo is better in every way, including price.

4.5/5 My favorite nut liqueur. It has a strong sweet amaretto scent and light brown color. The taste is rather sweet with a strong caramel and grape seed (probably more likely apricot) profile. It works in coffee drinks and a sour well, but shines in an Ambrosia Supreme (with cola and lime) bringing out a smooth, almost vanilla flavor.

Good Amaretto liqueur,a real pleasure on the rocks;the real mater is its taste, too measured, that doesn't give it the chance to be memorable,so it remains in the anonymity.

I don't drink it much but when I do (amaretto sour) it is always good.

Classic amaretto liqueur. Makes good amaretto sours. But has anyone tried it in Coke? The silk of Disaronno meets the acidity of the Coke and magic happens. A bottle of this lasts me about two weeks.

Something of a classic.  It has it's role in a well-stocked bar.

I think this is a really decent liqueur for it's price. I hate almonds usually. Almond cookies, pastries, cakes, flavoring...EWWW! So I'm naturally no expert on amarettos, but this was tolerable, and even enjoyable for me personally since it wasn't painfully almond-y. That's probably not a desireable feature according to amaretto fans, but for me it's a good thing!

Mediocrity, thy name is diSaronno. When there are so many other good amaretti out there -- Luxardo and Lazzaroni come to mind -- why drink this? It doesn't even have Amaretto on the label any more. One girl who can make eating an icecube that prurient will not save this stuff.

Not bad. Love the amaretto flavor but I'm not a huge fan of vanilla and this has A LOT of vanilla. Had it with a couple ice cubes.
