Domaine de Canton Fresh Ginger Liqueur
This is a Tier 1 score in the Liqueur category. It means the spirit has won the highest recommendation at least once and probably many times.
Domaine de Canton Ginger liqueur was re-launched in 2007 with a recipe found and revised from the late-20th century. It is named for the French ginger-producing estates. Today it uses Vietnamese baby ginger blended with French cognac. The spirit is produced by an undisclosed distillery in France. Heaven Hills purchased the brand from Maurice Cooper in 2014.
Domaine de Canton was named Best in show for liqueurs at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Our own Domaine de Canton tasting revealed an intensely robust ginger bite but the flavor is pure and the liquor clean. It is absolutely outstanding in a variety of drinks... it's awesome, for example, as an alternative to sweet vermouth in a Manhattan (believe it or not--but use just a touch!) and--most especially--in the ginger-pear martini, featuring pear nectar and vodka.
