Liquor Review Notes:
Domaine de Canton Ginger liqueur was re-launched in 2007 with a recipe found and revised from the late-20th century. It is named for the French ginger-producing estates. Today it uses Vietnamese baby ginger blended with French cognac.
Named Best in show for liqueurs at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Our own Domaine de Canton tasting revealed an intensely robust ginger bite but the flavor is pure and the liquor clean. It is absolutely outstanding in a variety of drinks... it's awesome, for example, as an alternative to sweet vermouth in a Manhattan (believe it or not--but use just a touch!) and--most especially--in the ginger-pear martini, featuring pear nectar and vodka.

Too sweet to drink neat, but a very classy liqueur for cocktails. Bourbon, ginger beer, champagne, even a spicy vodka would work nicely. A high quality liqueur, though pretty expensive. Very tasty ginger spice.

Thick sweet taste at first with ginger heat at the edges of your tongue and back of throat. Taste and mouthfeel like ginger candy, only much better and more controlled, spiciness but without the cloying stickiness, overdone fruit and colors of many lesser liqueurs on the market. Candied ginger with honey and vanilla roundness with a touch of earthiness, slight ginger warmth and heat at the end and a lingering finish of oriental fruit and spices.

This is a must have for your bar! Add this liqueur to a classic mojito to add a new refreshing twist. Add 1/2 shot of this liqueur along with the rum, simple syrup, and mint!
You can also add this to a classic well drink such as a bourbon and ginger ale. Add a splash of this, and you will be pleasantly surprised!
Don't be afraid to add this liqueur to any of your fruit drinks, it's a great compliment to mango and pear cocktails.
