Liquor Review Notes:
Roundhouse Spirits was founded by Alex Nelson in 2008 and announces itself as the first distillery in Boulder County in Colorado. Nelson's background was in law but liquor was a private interest and eventually entered the market with gin. In addition to a goal of becoming the premier distillery "in the front range," they also have adopted environmentally responsibility as one of their fundamental practices.
Roundhouse Corretto Coffee liqueur is said to be named for the Italian tradition of "correcting" a drink of coffee with alcohol; that is, "cafe corretto." This liqueur is made with the grain alcohol made at the distillery's Portuguese still and blended with coffee from the local Boulder coffee shop Unseen Bean, and a bit of vanilla and sweetener.
The 2012 Beverage Testing Institute complimented Roundhouse for "nice purity and restraint of flavor."
