Proof66 Notes

Gran Sierpe Acholado is blend of several different grape varietals (hence the term "acholado"), bottled at 84 proof and meant to be smooth and aromatic.

The 2011 Wine Enthusiast review as not specific regarding which Gran Sierpe was reviewed; we presume here it is the acholado.

Gran Sierpe pisco was first launched in 2009 as a brand to reintroduce the North American consumer to the South American spirit, out of favor since the dark times of Prohibition. It is made at undisclosed distillery in southern Peru. The name translates as "the great snake" and is named for the town of Mountsierpe, which lies near a snake-like mountain formation. They say their pisco has a distinctive flavor due to the grapes harvested from the El Almendral vineyards, distilled in traditional alambic pot stills, and rested for 3 to 9 months to settle before aging.
