Liquor Review Notes:
Launched in 2005, 10 Cane rum from Trinidad is made from the "first press of the virgin sugar cane." The label goes so far as to say these canes are hand-selected and handled "ever so carefully." It is purportedly the best rum ever seen on earth. The rum is lightly aged in French oak.

In the spring of 2011, 10 Cane was reformulated. Instead of being a pure sugar cane juice rum (rhum agricole) it is now a blend of rhum agricole and aged molasses rum. It seems the ratio is about 90% sugar cane juice and 10% molasses rum. (From Refined Vices.)

Their website currently (Fall, 2008) features baffling little films. It also enjoys positive commentary from diverse magazines such as Esquire, Playboy, New York Times, and vibe." The name comes from sugar cane harvests traditionally in bundles of 10.

Drink Hacker gave this rum a B+ rating suggesting, "Try it if you're a cachaca fan."

In terms of Rum, very smooth. A great bargain buy for quality and price.

A so-called "premium" rum at a premium price, but with little to distinguish it. Light on aroma and flavor, it makes for a passable mixer, but isn't worth the money. I'm not sure what the point of this rum is. For the complete review, and more like it, please visit ProfessorCocktail.com.

Once you get passed the really pale color, the stuff is pretty smooth... though it's not very complex, and I can't say the flavor is all that great.

First off, a caveat; this rating is for the reformulated 10 Cane that's been out for about nine months. Originally, this rum had no molasses in it; they've wimped out and added molasses. I'd call the original a three-star.

Like Tommy Bahama Gold, Im surprised this rum rates so highly. Not that 10 Cane is bad, but it doesn strike me as a rum of that level. This rum has a very "vegetal" quality to it, one that in my experience is consistent with sugar cane-based rums like Oronoco. 10 Cane has a very unique taste, one that didn hit me as well as Oronocos on the first experience. 10 Cane is definitely a cut above many rums under $30, and I love the bottle design. The taste could use some work, but its pretty good, especially if you are looking for something different in a rum, and its color grabs you.

Could not detect a specific flavor through the chalky egg nog... but it was smooth.

Same flavor as other rums but has a nice, preferable flavor in a mixed drink.
