This to me smells like mix of Myers and Appleton vx. It is quite a smooth drink despite the bold aroma and flavor of heavy molasses. This to me is more of a mixer than sipper.

For the price and availability in Australia, this is a great little rum. Don't look at this and think "Oh, cheaper Goslings Black Seal!?" It's different. I've always struggled to put a word to this rum, other than the delightful caramel - I think if I had to choose a word or two, I'd say "Subtly creamy." Give it a go - it's good value; to drink, it mixes well, on the rocks, or neat.

Maybe it's because this was the first rum I ever drank, but this is now the only one I drink. I have tried a number of others in the same price range (and a little more pricey) and none come close to the value of this. There is a reason that it is so popular in my country (New Zealand). It is easy to drink neat, on the rocks or mixed with coke or in a cocktail. Some bars around don't serve this in their drinks and the inferior, weaker taste is easily noticable.
