Liquor Review Notes:
Attempting to translate from the French website, Rhum JM is named for Jean-Marie Martin, who acquired the sugar plantation the city of Mancouba in Martinique in 1845. In modern times, the plantation still grows sugar cane, pineapples, and bananas. The estate supports a distillery which crafts the rhum agricole, given that name because it is distilled not from molasses (the by-product of sugar production) but the juice from pressed sugar cane.
They have a great respect for tradition. In a December, 2011 interview with Got Rum Magazine, Master Blender Nazaire Canatous said, "I have never considered consumers impressions of how we produce rhum... Never changed our rhum flavor oto adhere to consumption trends. Our flavor profile remains consistent, but consumers impressions change... We are very consistent to follow the way we produce rhum now for the last 4 generations." Here at Proof66, that sings to us of commitment.
JM Rhum Paille (or "gold") is lightly aged and blended, bottled at a very high proof.
