Lady Bligh Spiced Rum
This spirit has received awards in the past but not recently enough to qualify for a Proof66 Rating.
Lady Bligh rums are a line of sweet, flavored rums produced by the Ohio-based Paramount Distillers. It features the busty pirate Lady Bligh, who is based upon Mary Elizabeth Bligh—daughter of New South Wales, Australia governor William Bligh (famous for surviving the Bounty mutiny) who attempted (rather unsuccessfully) to regulate rum.
Paramount Distillers was founded in Cleveland by JF Moessmer in 1934 one month following Prohibition's repeal. It went from marketing vodka locally to an expansion in 1957. The company was acquired by Luxco in September of 2011 and became Luxco, Inc. joining a second Luxco plant with operations in St. Louis, Missouri.
