This is a thick, complex, and delicious rum, with tastes of molasses and dark fruit. This would be ideal for sippers of cognac or dark rum. I did a tasting of about fifteen rums while in Guatemala, and this one may have been my favorite. This cost me $85 at the Guatemala City airport, though I'm not sure how much it costs in the US.

Although i really enjoyed Ron Zacapa 23, i personally do not think this is as good as the younger sibling. The very essence of Ron Zacapa 23 is there, however, that very essence which makes the zacapa 23 good is all muted here. This is much drier and also more smoother than 23, which may be plus for some people. It's definetly a good rum, however, i just feel like i'm not getting enough for spending 2X the price of 23.

A simply wonderful experience. The molasses flavor is exceptional and lingers for what seems like hours. Its a liquor so fine it could be served in cordial glasses at a fancy dinner as easily as it could accompany a bold cigar. Yes, it reminds one of a rich cognac. While its hard to justify spending this much on a bottle or rum, it is in the rarified air along with Mt Gay 1703, and El Dorado 21 (all roughly $100) and, frankly, worth every penny.
