Proof66 Notes

The Cuervo name traces its history all the way back to 1758 with Jose Antonio Cuervo. The name quickly grew for the next 100 years to include somewhere between 2.5 million and 5 million agave plants on over 10,000 hectares by the turn of 20th century. Unfortunately, in the 1930s, the estate was broken up into smaller farmsteads.

Not the best anejo tequila nor the worst one. Has overpowering nose of wood with some vanilla and faint agave. The palate gives you spicy, woody flavor with rather smooth finish. Not something i would sip slowly and savor, but immensly enjoyable as shots and goes great with spicy food.

For the price, a very good tequila. No salt or lime needed. Fairly smooth and good fragrance.

1800 anejo is like drinking a weathered leather shoe. I haven had many anejos, but that is my assessment of this one.

A low end anejo which is redeemed by the price point. While it lacks the finish and complexity of higher end anejos, it also lacks the price. Simple, no frills and cheap compared to other anejos, but as much of a value as its other versions. A reasonable around the house anejo, especially if you have friends who tend to shoot their tequila rather than sip it.
