Proof66 Notes

Don Julio tequilas are named for Julio Gonzales who founded the La Primavera distillery in 1942 in order to control all the process of tequila craft from harvesting to bottling.

Don Julio 1942 anejo tequila is meant to commemorate the founding of La Primavera Distillery by Don Julio Gonzalez himself. The tequila is aged in oak for at least two years.

Glad I bought this a couple years ago for about $100 because it's really gone up in price the last three years. A beautifully smooth and tasty tequila that gets taken out for very special occasions.

This sweet and fruity tequila also has notes of vanilla, along with berries. Excellent for sipping, is complex and super smooth, albeit maybe overpriced

This is simply one of the best tequilas ive ever sipped ever. Has seductive aromas of sweet agave, vanilla, butterscotch, nuts with hint of fruitiness. You get the same sweet agave, vanilla and butterscoth notes on the palate, with hints of oak and the licorice-like finish you get in Don Julio tequilas. Sipping this makes many tequilas taste either average or bad, it is that good.

This is one of the best sipping tequilas I've had. Normally, I like the extra anejo's that have a lot of oak in the finish. This one doesn't have a ton of oak, although there is some there, but the incredible subtle balance that this tequila offers to your palate is one not to be missed.

Oooooo, really good. If you like tequila this is a must buy. I love et paradiso but head to head I think I prefer this. Better than the much more expensive real Julio. It's a classy sweeter tequila better than clase blanco a reposado. 4.5/5

Exquisite! Not meant for those who drink Cuervo, Patron, Camarena etc. Do NOT mix this...sip only and then...enjoy

Great tequila, but you pay for it Other tequilas for 1/2 the $ are just as good

I have tasted more expensive tequilas but none have beaten 1942 so far to my tastes including Don Julio Real, Herredura Seleccion Suprema. Formerly was sold in a wood case but now in a heavy cardboard box. Still nice but not as nice as the old packaging.
