Proof66 Notes

Don Julio blanco tequila is the un-aged expression and popular as one of the more widely available of the premium tequilas. It is described as light and sweet.

Don Julio tequilas are named for Julio Gonzales who founded the La Primavera distillery in 1942 in order to control all the process of tequila craft from harvesting to bottling.

Fresh, bright, & peppery. Great on the rocks or in a Margarita. This, along with Avion, are the 2 best Blancos I’ve tried. A little pricey, but I feel is worth it. Will definitely buy again!

I agree with Ipy89's assessment of this blanco, but I just don't seem to like "subtle" or "smooth" in anything that I drink. This tequila is obviously well made, but this along with every other tequila I've tried, seems to pale in comparison to the equivalent El Tesoro; everything in their range is bursting with delicious flavor. El Tesoro is making my exploration of everything else in the world of tequila somewhat of a disappointment.

El Tesoro is definately on my list to try! I found Don Julio to be quite flavorful, but don't have a lot to compare it to.

Although i prefer bold tequilas with big agave kick, this subtle and smooth blanco is very good, with notes of light agave, citrus and creamy vanilla. Finishes very smooth and savory with licorice aftertaste. Although i prefer aged expressions of Don Julio, this is good on its own and its one of the better subtle blancos i've had.

Alone, or with salt and lime, some party music is awesome, it's very drinkable, isn't harsh, my recommendation to any tequila amateur drinker out there

(4 out of 5). A pleasant, subtle blanco. Drink it out of a snifter or a Glencairn glass to pick up on the subtleties. The quality is obvious in the nose, with nice agave, brine and mild citrus, and continues to the palate, where it's savory and smooth. I prefer Don Julio's añejo, but this blanco is nice and subtle. I wouldn't use it for mixing, as I think it's subtlety is best appreciated neat, and would probably not come through in a cocktail. $45-50 in my area.

Very smooth on entry and certainly not the tequila you remember from those parties as a kid. Could be a bit to refined for some though. Mild white pepper taste with a hint of earthy agave. Pleasant nose but nothing bold from this bottle. In a mixed drink you could just as well use vodka but overall a mild pleasant sipper that most anyone could handle.

A wonderful delicious, subtle, and smooth tequila. One of the better tequilas we have reviewed. Proof that quality ingredients and attention to detail yield a superior product. Highly recommended.

It's tough to beat this "higher-end" tequila. Definitely worth moving up from the low-mid price range.
