Proof66 Notes

Casa Herradura was one of the oldest and most storied of the tequila brands. The name "Herradura" is translated as "horseshoe" from Spanish and graces their namesake tequila label, though they also quietly produce other labels as well. Brown-Forman purchased Tequila Herradura and is now the owner of both Herradura and Jimador labels of tequila. The distillery itself was founded in 1861.They take credit for being the first distillery to try aging their tequila in oak (creating the "reposado" and "anejo" expressions) in imitation of aging eau-de-vie to make cognac. The name "el jimador" is meant to honor the men who grow and harvest the agave. El Jimador Reposado tequila is aged for two months and recommended for the recipe paloma.

The 2013 Beverage Testing Institute noted "lots of spicy American barrel character," which should please bourbon adherents who are exploring tequila.

Jimador Blanco was awarded the Gold Medal at the 2010 SIP Awards.

I wanted a solid tequila to make margaritas and knowing very little about this particular spirit, I bought El Jimador Reposado based on the other reviews here and the reasonable price tag ($20). I certainly wasn't disappointed. Cool, crisp, and refreshing! More like a 4.5. Will buy again!

Very Good reposada especially for the price. Not that complex and not as smooth as some but very good.

Not as complex as some more expensive offerings, but very good taste, very little burn, and low price make it a four star winner.

Like others mentioned, this is just good, cheap lowland reposado that is good for all-purposes. Has slighty fruity-nose with spicy-oak flavors. A definite upgrade from it's lackluster blanco cousin. Overall, i prefer this over Herradura reposado. (alsofrom same distillery).

Very good 100% agave margarita tequila. Sweetness is emphasized in this spirit. I found that the cocktail was improved if I added a bit more tequila than usual due to the sweetness. A great bargain!

(3.5 out of 5). A good, cheap lowland reposado. I wouldn't generally use it as a sipper, but it can work in a pinch, and is great in a paloma, as the website suggests. Note: the picture is out of date, and this tequila is now 100% de agave. About $17 in my area.

A solid price for a solid tequila. good margarita stuff. good balance of sweet and dry finish with some barrel flavors. leaves to be desired as a sipper. $30 a handle

Goto cheap Tequila!! All the flavor of a Resposado youd expect, with an affordable price! Made by the makers of Casa Herradura.. the Best in my opinion..and about half the price.. an awesome 100% agave flavor and awesome in margaritas!
