Proof66 Notes

Tesoro Anejo tequila is aged between two and three years in oak. They suggest serving it at room temperature in a brandy snifter.

El Tesoro Anejo was named Best Anejo Tequila in the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (in a field of 44 anejo tequilas).

Whenever I can find it, I request it!! And it is one of my overall favorites in my collection of over 75 fine tequilas. No one has been disappointed with this choice in any of my private tastings.

A fantastic Anejo with great agave flavor and complexity. On the nose you get green agave, floral notes, olives, oak, cheese, honey, earth with hint of smoke and caramel. In the palate you get more earthy agave with caramel, oak, floral and vanilla notes coming out with ultra-smooth finish. So complex, yet it does not compromise on the agave flavors, and very smooth. This is just an excellent tequila and it begs to be sipped.

Best tequila I've had so far. Refined, but by no means bland. Green olives, oak, and a hint of vanilla on the nose. The palate has the black pepper, salt, and what seems to be a "bourbony" hint in the background (probably all barrel notes). This is the only tequila that I purchased a whole bottle of, and I'm really happy about my decision.

Actually, this is my favorite of the El Tesoro trio, and one of my favorite tequilas.

(5 out of 5). One of my favorite spirits, period, and may well be the best tequila available for under $100. Has a crazy nose, with agave, wood, various spices, green olives, and something like well-aged cheese (in a good way, I promise). The taste is fantastic, as it manages to be oaky while still maintaining the vibrant "green" agave (as opposed to cooked agave) taste. I love enjoying this neat in a Glencairn glass. Ranges from about $50 to $60.

It's the bomb, other reviews are spot on. Only thing I can add is that this remarkably smooth tequilla imbues the cask flavors from the extra years of aging. Typically when I think of older whiskies or bourbons I think the rough edges smooth out (sometimes to much). Here is the opposite. The reposado is very smooth & tasty while the anejo is also smooth perhaps even a touch less smooth, but loaded with layers of beautiful flavor (no doubt due to extra time in the cask). There are few bottles I feel as strongly about as this one, if I could give 6 stars I would...

Unfortunatly hard to find because this is the greatest tequila made. If you can find it buy it. I wouldn't waste anything this good mixing. I prefer mine in a snifter. This whole line holds no disappointments.

After reading the reviews and finally finding a bar that carries it (thank you Agave in Lewes DE) I can officially say wow. Incredibly smooth. I had it in a margarita and a snifter at room temperature. The margarita was noticeably better and it was good to begin with. However the snifter is where it won me over and why I gave it 5 stars. An absolute joy to sip. I took my time and thoroughly enjoyed it....I will be adding it to my collection...you cant beat the price as well considering the quality.

Very smooth with a nice, mild peppery finish. Very noticeable improvement to a margarita (2 oz tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, juice from half lime) as well. Best tequila Ive tasted so far.

This is one of those spirits that you just have to experience. It has won countless awards and there is absolutely good reason for that. First off, I could smell this tequila without drinking it and be perfectly satisfied for hours. It kept evolving as it breathed, but my best description of it would have to be like a bananas foster creme brulee with a bit of cheese rind mustiness added in. The flavor balances the earthy agave perfectly with the oak. It is so important for the oak not to overpower the agave, and this tequila balances them beautifully. If you are looking for the benchmark anejo to judge all others, this is the one to go to. It has a perfect balance of so many aspects: agave flavor, oakiness, and heat. I am a big bourbon drinker and this tequila stands tall with all of them.

I had heard about this tequila and went in with high expectations. I was not dissapointed. Amazing fragrence with equally amazing taste. Heard someone say, "That would be great in a Tequiala Sunrise" and felt both saddened and slightly offended. I normally drink my tequila straight with an orange slice after. Would like to try an orange slice with this sometime, but it's hard to believe it could improve the taste at all. Just... wow.

This is an absolutely astonishing tequila. If you love whiskey, you will adore this tequila. At $50 or so, it is easily the very best value on the market for the quality. It goes medieval on tequilas twice and three times more expensive.

Hands down the best tequila I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Enjoyed mine chilled over a couple ice cubes. No problems ordering another round of El Tesoro Anejo!
