One of the best reposados ever period. Despite this being reposado, the green agave presence is very much intact. Has nose of rich green agave, earth, white wine, olives with hint of honey and oak. The green agave presence continues in the palate with more oak coming forward with spices and hint of honey sweetness in the finish . This is great example of an well-balanced reposado with prominent agave flavors with just hint of oakiness that compliments the overall flavor.

All of these nicer tequilas I've been trying lately have one thing in common (to varying degrees): they are approaching the threshold of being considered under proofed or slightly bland. The El Tesoro Reposado is different. It's bursting with flavor and I think it's just right even at a mere 80 proof. As far as a description of the flavor profile I can't do it any better than Quetzal has so read his review for that, it's spot on. This one is my new favorite.

This is the best tasting Tequila I have experienced in the US! I lived in Mexico for a few years and many people make their own down there and when you visit it's customary to offer you a shot, it's considered rude to refuse. The quality of the Tequila was unbelievable, and I had not tasted anything even close to being as good until I tried the Tesoro! Jose Cuervo might as well be rubbing alcohol by comparison! This is definitely a sipper, don't waste this as a mixer, there are many lower quality ones which can be used as such! While I also like the Tesoro Anejo, I prefer the 'rested' version and think it gains some complexity with age!

(4.5 out of 5). El Tesoro is simply a great line of tequilas, maybe the most consistent one out there. And while I slightly prefer the añejo to this one, it's still my favorite reposado currently. It manages to have a vibrant, green agave taste with some added oak complexity. When nosing it, I pick up agave, green olives, oak, light smoke, and various spices. I'm sure this is a great mixer, but I wouldn't know- this is a sipper for me. Usually around $50-$55.

This thing is amazing, if the reviews prior to mine haven't convinced you to buy this bottle (or atleast order at a bar) then nothing will! I can only add that I don't like tequilla. Like many, tequilla shots were something I tolerated with friends looking to get aggressive at bars/clubs. This is NOTHING LIKE THAT. Put your past bad experiences with tequilla out of you mind, think of this as a totally different catagory. If you like sipping scotch or bourbon this is a lovely change of pace for your home bar & guests will love it! Serve it neat (I use a glencairn tasting glass but honestly anything will do). Please don't 'shoot' it, you'll not want to hide from this flavor, you'll want to chew it like you would a nice old scotch or bourbon. You'll be glad you did :)

Once it had time to sit and breathe, the fire diminished to allow the light fresh flavors to come out of hiding.

After absolutely falling in love with the El Tesoro Anejo, I had to continue along the line with this brand.  I think that this is a great tequila to fly in the face of the tendency of ratings agencies to favor the ultra aged variations of the general spirits families.  This has a great balance between spicy and fruity.  To describe it briefly, it tastes like a salt cured lime rind mixed with charred pineapple and pink peppercorn.  This would be amazing in a margarita and is just so smooth and enjoyable on its own.  You have to check out this reposado; it would be an incredible mixer and it is a fantastic sipper on its own.

Absolutely the best Tequila I have ever experienced! Smooth, smooth, smooth! It has a perfect finish, not to much bite and agave undertones that fit perfect. In my eyes this should be the bench mark for a tequila. Wish it was easier to find on the east coast.

I have an older bottle of this tequila and maybe things have changed. I purchased this bottle and a few more of them several years ago based on the recommendation of a tequila book I have. The tequila is a bit harsh on first sip than I would have expected or maybe preferred but it has some very good agave flavor to it. A nice tequila and just keeping the history of tequila in mind makes drinking El Tesoro a pleasure since it still uses old methods in the process such as brick ovens instead of pressure cookers.
