Proof66 Notes

Los Tres Tonos Tequila--or, "the three tones"--tequila is made in the lowlands and known for a highly smoky character that to us would imply a mezcal like (or even Islay scotch-like) flavor.

The anejo expression means it is aged for at least 12 months in oak prior to bottling imparting a color and whiskey-like complexity with vanilla and caramel flavors.

After a phenominal tasting with a friend who brought this home from mexico (unsure about U.S. availability because I haven't really checked yet...), I felt compelled to message proof66 about adding this bottle on. A few things about the bottle, 1st: we had a wicked hard time with the bottle cap (frustrating but eventually it worked) hopefully that is a one-off 2nd: this is the most richly flavored & beautifully balanced tequilla I have ever had the good fortune of trying. It's hands down a room temperature sipper that tastes amazing. As I've mentioned before, I'm an El Tesoro groupie (after trying a lot of horrible & mediocre tequila ET opened up my world). I didn't expect to find much better but this certainly is. It's briming with flavor & my friends from lower experience all the way up absolutely loved this tequila. If you can find it please try it & let me know what you think!
