Proof66 Notes

Absolut is famous for flavored vodkas and great marketing. Absolut Texas is the 2014 limited edition expression from the Absolut Limited Edition (formerly Cities) campaign to celebrate specific attributes of various places, in this case the the entire state of Texas and the first time Absolut has offered a flavor of a state instead of a city. This is the eighth release in the series and in this case takes the flavor of cucumber and serrano chili. The bottle was designed by San Antonio artist Cruz Oriz employing what the press release called "a modern take on classic Texas iconography" including a "cosmic caballero." It is meant to pay homage to southwestern flavors and cuisine but paired with cranberry, cilantro, and grapefruit.

Absolut claims "all natural ingredients" with "no added sugar." It officially began production in 1979 and, to this day, they take great pride in their production facilities in Ahus, Sweden where "every drop of water" comes from a single "deep well." The vodka uses a soft winter wheat for its base. The brand is owned by French-based Pernod-Ricard.

Absolut vodka is one of the top-selling brands of vodka in the world and is one of the great visionaries in the marketing of vodka. Their aggressive and occasionally scandalous ads in the nineties helped launch the cocktail culture.
