Permafrost Alaskan vodka is made from locally grown potatoes and Alaskan glacier water. Glacier Creek Distillery prides itself on extremely careful distillation and filtration (executed traditionally through charcoal); they claim that over 508 hours of work has gone into each bottle of vodka. They regard themselves as the first Alaskan vodka.

In an unusual step, they take their vodka and flavor it with wild-caught Alaskan smoked salmon. The salmon is macerated (that is, chunks of it are immersed in alcohol to steep like tea) for a period of time and the resulting "essence" is blended with their vodka to create one of the most unique items we're aware of on the entire market.

Alaska Distillery (formerly Glacier Creek Distillery) was founded by native Alaskans Scotti MacDonald, Shawn Ansley, and Winston Chelf in 2005. Toby Foster first had the idea as the natural next step from his own home-brewing hobby. Glacier Creek takes pride in that their distillery tries to operate responsibly by limiting the carbon footprint and recycling. The name of the distillery comes from the astounding natural beauty in the glaciers of Alaska and the purity of its water they use for their spirits.

You can't hate on this one for what it is, but you definitely have to appreciate smoked salmon to enjoy it. The quality is very good, but you might want a few crackers to go with it. :)
