Proof66 Notes

Art in the Age Beet Root vodka is one of their seasonal expressions, in which they use sweet beets, local cranberries, tarragon and blend in apple pomace (the leftover apples from cider). Finally, it is sweetened with honey, leading them to call it a blend of "savory and sweet."

Art in the Age Beet Root Vodka was named Best Flavored Vodka in the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (out of 44 entries).

Art in the Age is short for "Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction." They seek creative artists woven together in a web of personal contacts. In what we at Proof66 see as an echo of Thomas Carlyle's rant coming to us from the industrial revolution of the 18th century, Art in the Age proclaims: Rather than exist at a distance in the white cube of the gallery space, we weave our offerings into the collective surface of myriad personal contexts. In this troubling epoch of industrial commodification, standardization of reproduction, and fomentation of a society of shallow spectacle, Art In The Age issues a challenge and rally cry. We fight fire with fire, subsuming the onslaught of watered down facsimiles and inaccessible displays with thought-provoking products of real cultural capital.

Art in the Age spirits were acquired by William Grant & Sons in June of 2010. Production moved from California to Tamworth Distilling of New Hampshire.
