Proof66 Notes

Crater Lake vodka is a grain-base vodka made with Cascade Mountain water and filtered 10 times through charcoal and lava rock plus a "touch of aging" in oak barrels. Batch numbers are printed on the bottle. Bendistillery offers private label spirits, but for these other vodkas only filters 5 times. Crater Lake Reserve Vodka (formerly known as Diamond 100 Vodka) sets itself apart by a claim of 100 filtrations. The story is that began as an accident with a vodka filtered a mistaken 100 times... the result, they claim, was a smoother, "exquisite" vodka for "aficionados."

Bendistillery was founded in 1996, which is relatively early in the craft-distilling business and they regard themselves as one of the forerunners of the movement. It was founded with the express purpose of crafting gin and vodka made with natural ingredients and pure Cascade Mountain water. In addition to their own spirits, they craft some spirits on a private label basis.

Finally, a high-end vodka with some taste! We are tired of those high end vodkas that try to outdo each other in being more "smooth" (read tasteless)! One of the best new American vodkas - much cleaner than Grey Goose or almost any other vodka I can think of and has excellent smoothness and taste.
