Proof66 Notes

Deep Eddy Peach vodka was released in January, 2016 as an extension of their popular line of flavors. They pride themselves in using real fruit in their flavoring (hence, a more honest "infusion"). They suggest serving with a "splash of lemonade" or as a shooter with bourbon.

Deep Eddy vodka is was founded in 2010 in Austin, Texas by Clayton Christopher in collaboration with Chad Auler of Savvy Distillers. They use local and all-natural products in their production and blend it with aquifer water from Texas. The name "deep eddy" is inspired by the "largest swimming hole" in the Austin, Texas area. According to the 2011 filing with the Tax and Trade Bureau, Deep Eddy is produced by Savvy Spirits out of Texas, whom we've listed here as the producer. Driven by early success, the facility has expanded to a 4-acre, 35,000 square foot facility capable of producing 2 million cases per year. In the interview with Tasting Panel Magazine (November, 2014 by Anthony Head), Auler remains committed to Austin and using "real ingredients" in their flavors. In August, 2015, the Deep Eddy brand was sold to Kentucky-based Heaven Hill. According to the Wall Street Journal (Tripp Mickle), the sale price was not disclosed but estimated between $165 and $300 million. In the article, Heaven Hill said that Deep Eddy would 'operate as an independent company within Heaven Hill and continue to be overseen by its current president, Eric Dopkins."
