Proof66 Notes

Dry Fly Distilling Company's name came from its founders Don Poffenroth and Kent Fleischmann, who conceived of the idea of distilling while flyfishing on the Gallatin River in the Pacific Northwest. Located in Spokane, Washington, they are proud of their use of local ingredients and botanicals. They use a German-made copper still with a capacity of less than 4,000 cases of liquor annually.

The vodka is distilled with Washington grown winter wheat. While proud of the origins of the wheat, they are coy about the origins of the vodka saying, "We'd just as soon map out our favorite fishing spots as well."

The Tasting Panel Magazine (October, 2011) named Dry Fly Vodka one of its Top Ten Vodkas in an exhaustive. blind tasting test of over 100 popular and premium brands.

Named Best Vodka in the 2009 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Not only a truly outstanding wheat vodka, but it costs half the price of its competition which is classified (by their price point ) in the super premium luxury category. Absolutely makes Avian Fashion Victim vodka seem like windshield washer fluid for only a couple dollars more (if that). Locally sourced ingredients, environmentally friendly and tastes outstanding. Can't get much better than that! Now you can drink great vodka, save money and save the environment (oh, and maybe impress your friends too on all of the above).

Dry Fly has a bread-like aroma that I usually associate more with rye vodkas rather than wheat. It has a luscious, syrupy texture that was my favorite part of the whole experience. It has a robust flavor all its own that I think would sing through a lot of different cocktails.
