Proof66 Notes

Grey Goose vodka is perhaps the paragon success story in the marketing of premium and/or super-premium vodka. It was originally launched in the 1990s by magnate Sidney Frank of New York who eventually sold the brand to Bacardi for $2 billion in cash. The vodka itself is made with French wheat and distilled in the Cognac region of France.

This is an excellent vodka. It is pricey though and in my opinion not worth the cost. It's one of the few vodkas I don't freeze as I think it loses some aromatics and softness when frozen.

Sharp alcoholic. Not much flavour, hints of grain and sharp alcohol. Not too deep, unround and sharp. Sad for the price.

I'll keep this simple. If you buy Grey Goose over Absolut, Stoli and even Smirnoff, you're a massive retard. So average.

Grey goose is IMHO worst vodka for the value of money, considering this vodka is more expensive than other cheaper brands like stolichnaya, skyy, titos etc. This vodka is not smooth at all and does not have any noticeable character. It really says something when everytime i blind test this with my 20+ vodkas this always comes out last.

I'm not a vodka drinker, but i have try this and have to admit that is my favorite medium price vodka (in my country it isn't that cheap), i would recommend this to a friend but i wouldn't drink it mixed or stir this vodka should be drink cold and with a chill shot glass, or on the rocks, really great taste, goes down easy, a little bit fruity sweet flavor, and a comfortable after taste that should make a great party companion

My first time drinking vodka neat. It has more sweetness than I was expecting, but there is still a noticeable rubbing alcohol quality to it both in the aroma and the flavor. Probably won't be a regular consumer of this stuff, but I'm glad I tried it.

I would agree with the price is a little steep, but I completely disagree when people are comparing Grey Goose to sand paper, and then describing it's burn!!! I'm not sure what vodka they are tasting? Maybe they were drinking at one of those Friday's that recently got exposed for putting rubbing alcohol in their Grey Goose bottles!

I love the vodka, dislike the price. I really don't get all of the hate on this. I can't deny that there probably are better values, but this has been my favorite thus far.

I thought it was so cool to buy these when I was a teenager. Tastes ok when frozen and with cranberry juice, so I'd give it three stars if not for the price

(1 out of 5). For the record, this is not the worst vodka out there. However, the fact that they are charging thirty dollars or more for a mediocre, un-aged spirit is a crime. If this was twelve dollars instead of thirty, it might get two stars. But in the end, it's just bad booze. Sobieski at $12 is better, and Tito's at $20 is MUCH better. Is it the worst thing you can buy? No, but there's still no reason to get it. The bottle's fancy, but who cares?

Another great example of liquor made famous by rap music. If marketing was the deciding factor instead of taste this would hands down by the greatest vodka ever. Thankfully, that is not the case and we are able to distinguish distilled piss when are unfortunate enough to try it.

I don't get the appeal. The vodka itself is abysmal. It's smooth, like moderate grain sandpaper. There is burn, and it's not that subtle. Avoid this neat, but it can be mixed.

Seeing as I mix most of my beverages. I give the goose 3 stars for drinkability. That being said, I would give it 1 star as far as pricing goes. Especially when I can go and get a superior tasting and better priced $10 dollar bottle of Exclusiv. So we will just call this a 2 star rating.

To us, this is one of the most keenly disappointing vodkas on the market. If there was ever an example of all marketing and no quality, this is it. We find the vodka to have a very poor taste and character. Many times, we find the poor flavor working a little better when mixed but considering the price point--often in excess of $30--we can find little justification in spending for it.

Claims of this vodka's over-ratedness are over-rated.  It's quite good with a nice full finish on the palate.

First off let me just say that Grey Goose is one of those brands that everyone loves to hate. I am completely unbiased. With that said is Grey Goose high priced? Yes! Is it a good vodka? Most definitely! Is it worth its price? Not so much....... Grey goose is a very good vodka it has very little burn and is very smooth and easy for most people to drink. It however is not the best vodka on its price range....... I will take it over cheap vodkas and even smirnoff anyway but for the money your paying buy Kettle 1 or even Absolut.

Most overrated, overpriced vodka out there, which is why people who order it usually get it with cranberry. Anyone with decent taste buds can tell they have awful distillation practices. Im very proud that even though this vodka sells, the place I work refuses to carry it.

Marketing, pure and simple. I have, on a half-dozen occasions, bought a shot of Grey Goose at a bar and compared it blind to other vodkas. It loses consistently, every time. It's not bad; it's just mediocre. Every dollar above about 7 that you're paying here, you're paying for marketing and image.

Although it has the brand name, its quite obvious that the taste of the vodka doesn't quite live up to its standard. If you've only tried grey goose you should try other brands such as chopin, belvedere, ketel one, or even sobieski. In terms of taste and quality i feel like they all easily trump grey goose by a noticeable margin. Really disappointing considering the price of the vodka.

I don't get why everyone "thinks" they love this crap - it's awful! $10 Sobieski beats the hell out of the Goose, let alone a few hundred other vodkas out there on the market. Brilliant marketing to make so many people love something that tastes like ditch water.

I tried this one alongside Ketel One and Belvedere. GG was definitely the smoothest, but not by much. All three tasted the same though. Which leaves me very unimpressed with the vodka everyone and their mother seems to speak highly of. After trying it Im not sure why this is, beyond marketing dollars anyways. Im also amazed that it has such a high dollar reputation; its not that expensive at all, and there is plenty of vodka priced higher. But I digress... GG is smooth, but tasteless, and unimpressive in general. It will mix fine, and add smoothness, but its not the sort of thing to sip. Besides taste, Ive had no-name vodka that is nearly as smooth for much less money. The only thing GG has going for it is marketing and a nice bottle design. Pass.
