Proof66 Notes

Daucourt Martin is primarily known as a cognac producer but also produces specialty spirits such as Jean Marc vodka and X-Rated fusion liqueur. The name represents the combination of the names Jean Marc Daucourt (cognac) and Todd Martin of the former liquor conglomerate Allied Domecq.

Jean Marc XO vodka is the a French production made from a wheat base. It is made from a base of four specific varieties of wheat: Ysengrain, Orvantis, Azteque, and Carguer in a process that is supposed to eliminate the chaff in order to reduce bitterness in the flavor profile. It is blended with mineral water from the estate spring filtered through limestone. There is a final process of "micro-oxygenation" to improve the flavor profile and a "secret" charcoal filtration process.
(From the press release as reported by the Eligere Group)

The Tasting Panel Magazine (October, 2011) named Jea-Marc XO Vodka one of its Top Ten Vodkas in an exhaustive. blind tasting test of over 100 popular and premium brands.

This is one of the very few vodkas that has very unique character that one could seriously consider spending some serious cash on a ultra-premium vodka. Unlike many vodkas which has the typical ethanol nose, this one you could immediately notice the rich creamy vanilla and coconut essence both aromawise and flavorwise that at first i was skeptical whether this is actually a vodka. If you're thinking of spending premium on a vodka and looking for a completely unique vodka, i say this should be on your top priority list.

One of the most subtle and understated noses of a distilled spirit, great deal of flavor and complexity for a spirit that is supposed to be defined as odorless and tasteless. However it is roughly twice the price of Stoli , Avian Fashion Victim Vodka, and virtually every other vodka out there. If you are really into vodka it ranks as a must have for your bar or collection, if not, or you want something to mix with, give it a pass and load up on something less pricey, it's subtlety would be lost on most.
