Proof66 Notes

Russian Standard vodka is made from a base of winter wheat, often regarded as one of the smoothest and most neutral grain bases for a vodka, and blended down with glacial spring water. They filter the vodka through a combination of charcoal, silver, and quartz. They say the original formula is that set down by Dmitri Mendeleev, creator of the periodic table and administrator who set the standard for vodka in Tsar Alexander's court.

Just tried this for the first time and I think I have a new favorite. I like my vodka from the freezer over a few ice cubes and this one is perfect for that. It's smooth without being tasteless and has a nice little kick to it. Well worth a try.

The smoothest vodka I had. Havent had many vodkas straight, as Im not a big vodka guy, but took a sip of this and was very smooth. Hardly any burn. Must have for any home bar. Great for Moscow Mules!

Pretty good, extremely smooth and it's not near as offensive as many other similarly priced vodkas. Definitely try this out.

Goodbye Grey Goose. Seeya Ketel One. No more Stoll. Found me a new wheat vodka. Smooth with good body. Great in vodka tonic and smooth martini. About the same price as Stoli but I prefer the flavor

Truly one of the all-time bargains of the booze world, an excellent product that has remained under the radar despite outdoing much more expensive and popular vodkas. Works straight or mixed, perfection for a Moscow Mule. As another reviewer noted, it tastes of mineral water, with a mellow black pepper heat. Not the best choice for various fruity "club" cocktails - better to go with a flavorless vodka like Ciroc. This is a real vodka that tastes like real vodka, albeit an exceedingly smooth and consistent one, and usually $20 or less. No reason to waste money on Grey Goose, this stuff is truly just that good.

This is acceptable vodka, there is a bottle in my desk drawer, but it is not one of my favorite vodkas. It is more of a novelty. In Kiev I was drinking with University Faculty, and they were proud of the fact they broke out Russian Standard. I find it has some bite neat at room temp, Ciroc and Tito's are both better neat. Having said that, Russian Standard is considered a top shelf vodka in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. In a mix, Sobieski is perhaps better for a lot less money. Russian Standard is a middle ground vodka, not securing a place in my bar beyond name recognition.

Has slightly less burn than it's primary competitor in most markets, stoli, but for me the taste was very noticeable when mixed with drinks. Not in a good way either. Good for drinking straight, if that's your thing.

I'm an experienced vodka drinker that has tried well over 50 different vodka's. I've tried Ketel One and Grey Goose and Purus and Pravda and Effen and you get the idea... Russian Standard Platinum is simply the best vodka I have ever tried. No odor or smell at room temp. Smooth with no burn. It literally tastes like mineral water. It does not get any better than this...

I was looking for bottle of red stolichnayaat the liquor store but it was sold out and the guy told me to take this, I was abit sceptical since I really like stoli but I tried it anyway. It is just great! Tastes very good, smooth and less afterburn then the stoli. Definitely worth the price. I really like it  and it is my new 'standard' vodka.
