Vodka - Other
This is a Tier 2 score in the Vodka category. It means critics have highly recommended the spirit as a benchmark in the category.
Ultimat vodka (note the absence of the "e") blends three common bases of vodka--wheat, rye, and potato--into a single product. (Baffled, we have opted to list this as an "other" base vodka.) This implies a kind of blended approach similar to many whiskey styles that combine different base ingredients searching for particular flavor profiles. According to a May 4, 2004 press release, Ultimat is made and bottled at the Polmos Bialystok distillery in Poland. The brand is part of the Patron Spirits portfolio, acquired from Adamba in 2007.
The 2012 Wine Enthusiast review recommended it specifically with cucumber and tonic for a summer cocktail.
The Tasting Panel Magazine (October, 2011) named Ultimat Vodka one of its Top Ten Vodkas in an exhaustive. blind tasting test of over 100 popular and premium brands.
