Infused Vodka - Berry
VeeV Açai Spirit
This is a Tier 2 score in the Vodka category. It means critics have highly recommended the spirit as a benchmark in the category.
VeeV Acai Spirit is based upon that hottest of exotic, South American, "super fruits", the acai berry. With the anti-oxidant craze, they announce: "Drink better; live better." Nice to see spirits companies can get some claims for nutrition into the marketplace. They also promise to donate $1 from every bottle sold to the preservation of Amazonian rain forest. They further claim that their production efforts are completely carbon neutral.
The spirit itself is a wheat-based alcohol (think vodka) blended with "prickly pear" and acerola cherry among other "exotic fruits" to help the flavor. They suggest drinking neat or with soda and "splash of lime." At a slightly milder proof than typical rums or vodkas (60pf rather than a more customary 80pf), it should prove a nice, lighter liquor. It is produced by Distilled Resources in Idaho (according to the filing with the federal Tax and Trade Bureau) presumably by private label agreement for VeeV Spirits Company.
They have a funny little commercial called The End of Vodka.
Classifying this is a bit troublesome. While not technically a vodka it is certainly not a liqueur since it isn't sweetened to any great degree. We feel it bears the closest resemblance to a flavored vodka and have placed it there.
