Liquor Review Notes:
The Aberlour Distillery was founded by James Fleming in 1879 in the heart of Speyside. They glory in being between the junction of the rivers Lour and Spey, the former river providing the water for the whisky. The community itself claims to be 1,400 years old. According to Malt Maniacs the name aberlour translates from the Gaelic as "the mouth of the babbling brook." The distillery is owned by Chivas Brothers who themselves are owned by the French-based Pernod-Ricard.
The Aberlour 10yr single malt scotch is the youngest expression from the Speyside distillery and matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks.
