Proof66 Notes

The BenRiach Distillery--which translates as "hill of the red deer"--was founded by John Duff in 1898 using locally grown barley and spring water drawn from the site of the distillery itself. They are one of the few distilleries that still use a malting floor in their production. BenRiach has been "very quietly" producing scotch since 1898. The distillery was purchased from Chivas by new ownership in 2004 and has since been proud of its independent ownership.
