Blanton's Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
This score falls in the 92nd percentile of all spirits in the Whiskey category and is an example of the very best in its class.
Blanton's bourbon is a popular premium bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery that contains the signature, rye notes for which they are famous. It is named for Colonel Albert Blanton, who is said to have entertained his friends with bourbon from "Warehouse H." The idea of handpicked barrels turned into the 1984 launch of what they consider to be the very first bourbon entry into the "ultra-premium whiskey market."
This is the classic Blanton's expression and regarded as iconic in many parts of Kentucky. Buffalo Trace published some detailed notes about it's production, including the "entry proof" (or what it starts with coming off the still) at 125 (implying to us some high flavor character from the grain) and a #4 char on the barrel.
Blanton's Bourbon has one of the coolest bottles around, the figures on the cork represent the 12 stages of horse-racing in honor of the Kentucky Derby. Obtaining all 12 of these figures is a sport among collectors.
