Proof66 Notes

The Bruichladdich Distillery (pronounced "Brook-laddee") is translated from Gaelic as "raised beach," according to the website. It was founded in 1881 by William Harvey where it operated until 1994, when it was mothballed by then owner Beam Global as "surplus." It was reacquired by a group of investors in 2000 and began distilling once again in 2001. The purchase included some 7,000 casks of aging whisky. They are particularly proud of sourcing their whisky from 100% Scottish barley which is "increasingly" organic.
