Proof66 Notes

Chivas Regal 18yr scotch is the "gold signature" of the Chivas family. Each bottle is signed by the master distiller who hand-selected the whiskies for the blend. The blend is the Strathisla 18yr and Longhorn 18yr malts, neither of which are available to the public.

Anthony Dias Blue of Tasting Panel Magazine liked the scotch, giving it a 92pt rating, claiming it is "Lush and ripe with lovely nuanced and long flavors."

Chivas Brothers was founded in 1801 by James and John Chivas (the brothers) to create the perfect scotch whisky for "sharing with friends." At this time, single malt whiskies were (in their words) "harsh" and "poorly matured." By blending whiskies, the Chivas brothers were able to make famous a more drinkable brand of whisky. Chivas claims the Strathisla Distillery of Speyside as "the heart" of their blend. The brand is owned b French-based Pernod-Ricard.

Chivas Regal was made famous by the "rat pack" of Hollywood (and Las Vegas) fame.

4.25/5 This is a great blend at a great price & a worthy bottle for any bar. It's got a lovely, woody, oaky, flavor layering that is great for beginers but also has enough depth for more seasoned scotch lovers. This is very approachable for guests & for an 18 year (my favorite age for most scotches) it is certainly on of the top blends

I agree with the last review. I consider this the poor man's JW Blue for the price. Plenty of flavor and competes with JW blue on smoothness.

It is the second most popular brand in India after Johnie Walker. The 18 yr old is a must have in your mini bar. Earns you a lot of respect as a good scotch taster.

Very nice. Smooth, good flavor, reasonably priced for the quality.

Really changed my mind about blends- my former view of blends as godawful bastardizations of good single malts has changed. This is a very pleasant dram. At $60 a bottle it is competitive with Johnny Walker Green Label (Vatted Malt).
