Cutty Sark scotch has its name from the sailing vessel Cutty Sark. Its production reaches back to 1923 and they credit themselves with being "the first lightly coloured whisky of exceptional quality."
The 2011 Wine Enthusiast review regarded the Cutty Sark scotch as "reminiscent of Irish whiskey" and made for "very pleasant sipping."

Old Spice Deodorant. The Gordon's Fisherman. I Know What You did Last Summer. And rum smugglers... in fact, I'd probably have chosen rum over Cutty Sark if I had a choice.

Additional Comments: Cutty is a standard "well" scotch in most bars. Fine for a cheap drink at the bar, but not something I'd stock in my home bar. Flavor is too complex and too smokey.
