Eades Islay Double Malt is an "American" scotch made for the "American connoisseur." These are two Speyside single malts (from Scotland, lest there be any doubt) blended in America under the direction of Scottish master distillers. They're considered a "vatted malt" where two complementary scotches are blended together--or "double malt" in the terminology of the distillery.

In fact, we have this from the distillery itself:
To create Eades Double Malt, our master distiller, Jim McEwan, has taken a page from the handbook of the finest winemakers. Just as two grapes from a particular season can produce a wine far better than a single grape alone, Eades Double Malt whiskies demonstrate that two malts can create an experience that actually heightens and refines each region's flavor profile.

First, the two malts are finished separately in fine wine casks, such as Chateau Lafitte, Grenache and Zinfandel chosen with the final flavor profile in mind. Then, they are paired to create the perfect flavor profile of their region giving us Eades Double Malt.


The name "Eades" comes from the location of the Virginia Distilling Company, which rests in Eades Hollow in Virginia.

The Beverage Testing Institute score from 2010 is from the "2nd Edition" double malt; they called it "Remarkably rich, flavorful, and complex."

The Eades Speyside was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2010 SIP Awards.
