Proof66 Notes

Garrison Brothers bourbon is made in vintage years from a combination of Texas yellow corn, estate-grown winter wheat, and Pacific Northwest barley. They grind their own grain and use their own water in the production. They claim their bourbons are darker than typical whiskeys and an accelerated aging process due to Texas temperature extremes.

Garrison Brothers 2008 Vintage bourbon is aged for two years aged in smaller, 15 gallon barrels (typical size is 53 gallons). We're told it is a "marriage" of a few dozen hand-selected barrels based upon the flavor profile of their original Barrel #6 bourbon.

This tastes like its composed of grass clippings and toenails and aged in a cadaver

Great bourbon with a unique flavor. It isnt your typical Kentucky bourbon for sure, but its sweet flavor, and warm finish are definitely a plus. Not sure Id say it is a $80 whiskey, but worth having a bottle since it is such a unique product.

Disappointing. It's hot and overextracted -- while I understand that part of their marketing was to play up the speed of extraction in the Texas heat, it just comes off raisiny and dull. Too expensive as well -- I might buy it for $30, but not for $80.
