Proof66 Notes

Glenmorangie 10yr is the introductory (or youngest and least expensive scotch" in the range of whiskies. It's considered to be one of the best-selling single malt scotches in the world and can be found in most retail outlets. The whisky is aged in American bourbon casks and rests in the "gentle highland climate" in traditional stone floored warehouses.

"Glenmorangie" is Gaelic for "vale of big meadows" and the Glenmorangie Distillery traces its heritage far back before recorded history though the first mention occurred in 1738 with a brewery. The Glenmorangie Distillery was officially founded in 1843 and lays claim to the tallest stills in Scotland, measuring 16 feet, 10 inches (5.14 meters). They say this means only the purest vapors reach the top to condense in "purer more elegant whisky." They have made a point of owning the land around the distillery to ensure the purity of their water. As an added commitment to quality, they use their oak casks only twice and in this way believe that they are ensuring the maximum possible flavors from the wood. Their stills are run by the famous "16 Men of Tain." The distiller was owned by the MacDonald family until its very recent purchase by Moet-Hennessy in 2004. It produces an extraordinary range of different expressions with a great change in labels due to its recent change in ownership.

Very pleasant nose, picking up fruity, honey sweet notes...nice smooth taste, very easy finish, excellent value for a single malt, for those wanting peat, look to laphroiag, this is a very nice highland malt...86 proof

This is the best value scotch. Outstanding smoothness and appealing flavour. I haven't found a better bottle in this price range.

My favorite baseline single malt. Enjoy this over both Glenlivet & Glenfiddich 12. Very smooth with nice citrus accents making it a perfect warm weather scotch. Great value at $41 in my area.

3.5 : Very light and smooth, the taste is hard to distinguish, similar to Glenlivet and Aberlour. Here it's 10$ more expansive than Aberlour/Glenlivet so next time, I will pick Aberlour only instead.

Very nice scotch; great for introducing new drinkers to scotch and as an "everyday" scotch. Sweet, light, citrus and floral on the nose and taste. Not a very long finish but very smooth overall. A great value for it's price point. Personally I enjoy better than Glenlivet 12 or Glenfiddich 12 which are the two main competitors in my eyes to this bottle

It was this scotch along with the Balvenie and Glenfiddich 12's that originally opened my eyes to the scotch world. To me this one seems like a slightly spicier version of the aforementioned Glenfiddich. Can't go wrong with either though. Standard sweet fruit and citrus atop some subtle spice and barrel wood. Worth every penny.

4.25/5; Both my wife & I enjoy this scotch greatly. As someone who entered the scotch world as a peat head, I was some what apprehensive about broadening my horizons toward the 'sweeter' end of the spectrum but boy am I glad I did. My first glass was love. This is sweet & fruity. I want to make a distinction here, currently honey whiskey's are quite popular among younger whiskey drinkers & I want to make a distinction for those thinking about this bottle that the sweetness here is in no way similar to that. It delicate, subtle & perfect. I will say this however, over time I find my tastings have varied. Perhaps due to other foods eaten, changing taste buds, but regardless I would encourage those you have tried this and 'not gotten it' to give it another go, really chew on it, & I think you may find that for it's young age it really is quite fantastic.

It all depends on the price. The Glenmorangie's value for money can easily make it your everyday single malt and it's one of my choices when I don't want to spend more money. This whiskey is smooth, slightly sweet and fruity with hints of spices and it can really keep you interested for a long time...

I dont enjoy it as much as many seem to. Its nose is like apples (best quality). It doesnt have much body or depth to it. Smoothness is average as well. I prob wont ever buy again. I prefer a Balvenie or Glenfiddich. Still, not bad. 3.5 stars

Not necessarily my favorite, but undeniably a good showing and a phenomenal value in terms of the quality for the price. Compares favorably vs. many 12 and 15 yr Scotches.

Nothing in its price range or even +30% comes anywhere close in flavor, complexity, and quality. Its my "go to malt".

Glenmorangie is pretty good. After having a glass neat, I found it wasn quite my thing, and not quite the complex journey I expected it to be. There is citrus and warmth, and just an overall strong flavor. Its certainly not sub-par, and it is one of the more readily recognizable single malt names around. I will have to try more of their line, though, as this one didn impress me.

The Glenmorangie 10 year is a very nice, light scotch whiskey. Enjoy it either neat or with a single ice cube. More than one cube cuts it too much.
