Proof66 Notes

The Highland Park 15yr single malt scotch was first released in 2003 and considered "fabulously smooth" by the distillery.

In a gushing review from the Beverage Testing Institute in 2013, they called it "sensational" and "sure to please."

Delicious! As someone who was scared off of peaty/smokey scotches by the overpowering Laphroiag I found the smoke in this dram to be just right. Muncher hit the nail on the head "Subtle oak and subtle sweetness behind a moderate level of smoke" That perfectly describes this scotch. Plus for 60 bux I thought it was a great deal.

One of my favorites. Great flavors the more it opens up.

I don't think I can describe this malt any better than NeatPour did. Spot on. Subtle oak and subtle sweetness behind a moderate level of smoke. Really no off flavors at all. Can't wait to try the 18 year.

Many dimensions to this scotch. A very classy moderate smoke flavor weaves back and forth with the oak from the cask. It's quite captivating and a very high quality scotch. I find that during my subsequent pours that the flavors changed somewhat. It's a good bottle to explore

Special event: got to try this rather famous scotch. The label says to hold to the light, let fall a drop of water, smell three times, then chew it for 5-6 seconds. I did all that. Result: fabulousness. I really, really enjoyed this scotch--it has a full bodied peat character without being "smoke in a glass." The sherry finish comes through. It's just a beautifully, well-done whisky. It's the kind that makes you wonder why you've been drinking anything else.
