Proof66 Notes

Isle of Jura Prophecy single malt scotch is one of their limited annual releases. It is named in honor of a legend of the last Campbell leaving the island of Jura where a seer prophesied that he would leave with one eye blind drawn by a white horse--said to come true in 1938 when Charles Campbell (blind in one eye) left the island on a cart drawn by a white horse. Legend aside, the scotch is "profoundly peated" and made from a blend of Jura scotches of various ages.

Perfection in a bottle. Heavily peated with a great depth and long lasting aftertaste.

4.3/5; I tried this out of a plastic glass (generous enough pour though) at the esteemed park ave liquors in NYC... so take this review with a grain of salt. The first thing that came to mind for me is Lagavulin 16. It compares closer to that than to laphroaig, ardbeg, ect. due to the very pleasent sweet notes underneath the smoke. I would say it's a good step up from 'lightly' smokey scotches. I can't really say if I prefer it to laga or not (it's close). A side by side comparison might be in order...

When it comes to Scotch, the smokier the better (my opinion) and this one delivers on that. If you're new to Scotch, this one may be a little much for you.

This is a fantastic scotch. Smooth and velvety with a beautiful balance of peat and smokiness.
