American Whiskey - Tennessee Whiskey
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Silver Select Tennessee Whiskey
This spirit has yet to face the slings and arrows of the rating agencies.
Jack Daniel Distillery began in 1863 when Jack Daniel--working for one Dan Call--purchased the still he was working at when he was 13 years old. It was registered in 1866 giving rise to the claim of the "oldest distillery in the US." The still is located at a cave where "cave spring water" that is "virtually iron free" is used for making the whiskey.
Jack Daniel's Silver Select whiskey is a premium expression from the largest-selling whiskey distillery in the North American continent. At this time (February, 2013) it is available exclusively at duty-free and/or export shops. It is bottled at a very high 100 proof (bourbon generally coming in at 80 or in the low 90s for some single barrel brands) and is generally acclaimed across the blogosphere as being of superior quality to the flagship JD product.
