Proof66 Notes

Jim Beam Maple bourbon is an extension of their flavored line (though curiously eschewing the Red Stag label they have used for their other flavored bourbons). It takes their flagship white-label bourbon and infused with "natural flavors" of maple. According to the review by Drinkspirits.com (Geoff Kleinman), Beam reports that Red Stag is designed for those new to the bourbon world whereas Jim Beam Maple is meant to appeal to those already familiar with bourbon whiskey.

Very thick and VERY sweet, think maple syrup with a shot of Jim Beam. Okay as a shot or for a fan of Jim Beam

This particular brand of spirit caught my eye as I was pondering the numerous bottles of bad decisions that lie before me. I picked this along with maybe something familiar in case I was wrong and this turned out horridly; but that was never the case. As soon as this thicker than liquid wonder graced my lips I knew it was a winner. The sweet overtones of maple bring back memories of childhood breakfast, and boy does it go down smooth. The sweetness of the spirit really lends a hand to how smoothly the drink does go down. Not a lot of bad taste on the back end, just a slight flare that tells you this is a bourbon. All in all, this stole the show for me upon first taste, try it with Dr. Pepper for a game changer.

Damn, I was surprised with this one... most of these are borderline syrup. Better than crown royal maple and much less costly. You can appreciate the whiskey here more than in most maple blends.
